    Zambezi News set for TV

After a successful run at the recent Harare International Festival of the Arts, a comedy titled 'Zambezi News' by Magamba Cultural Activists Network will go on the small screen in July 2012.

Producers of the play are working on a film version of the comedy, which is a satirical presentation of a news bulletin that explores real and imaginary stories giving them a comical twist.

The film will be screened regionally via various satellite television channels and it will also be available on DVD.

It revolves on three news presenters of a television station called Zambezi News. On the cast are hilarious comedians: Farai "Cde Fatso" Monro, Michael Kudakwashe and Tongai Makawa aka Outspoken.

"It is about looking at real local and international issues lightly. We look at issues seriously and at times people get stressed because of certain events but the production gives a comic side to the issues," said Outspoken.

"It is also about imaginary issues that are related to current issues. It is a comic relief for people that watch news on various channels every day. Fans enjoyed the play at Hifa and we want to widen its reach so that people can laugh with us in their homes.

"As a spoken word artist, you realise the importance of connecting with people through different emotions, sometimes those emotions can be captured visually thus we decided on taking on the most 'serious' programme found on television (the news) and managed to make it light-hearted, but if you look beyond the satire, you will find that each expressive piece begs a certain serious question," said Outspoken.
