Imara takes Zimbabwe investor indaba to the UK
The indaba is expected to be addressed by Zimbabwe minister of finance Tendai Biti. Presentations will then be given by senior executives from five Zimbabwe corporates - African Consolidated Resources, African Sun, Seed Co, PG Industries and Innscor.
In June 2009, Imara organised an in-country international investment conference in Zimbabwe after the formation of the inclusive government and dollarisation of its economy. Forty international fund managers from the USA, UK, Europe and various African jurisdictions attended the Harare conference.
Imara group CEO Mark Tunmer noted: “The event was exceptionally well supported, but some large international investors and fund managers could not attend - many because they were prevented by their fund protocols from participation in such a conference on Zimbabwe soil.
“In the 10 weeks since that watershed seminar, progress has been phenomenally rapid. Dollarisation of the economy meant companies started afresh with zero cash on their balance sheets, but now there is real demand in currency that has real value and business has taken off. Economics is not waiting for politics and investors to see the advantage of early involvement.
“We're capping attendance at one representative per investment fund as response has been so positive.”
Imara group has offices and partners in Blantyre, Dubai, Edinburgh, Gaborone, Harare, Johannesburg, London, Lusaka, Mauritius, Nairobi, Nigeria, Windhoek and Luanda.
