The Herald apologises to the MDC

The state-run Zimbabwean newspaper, The Herald, has printed a retraction and apologised for publishing two unsubstantiated stories ahead of the presidential election in 2002 about the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party. The first story linked the MDC to a multi-million rand heist in SA and the second alleged that the party was responsible for anthrax attacks in Harare. The MDC is suing The Herald and Zimpapers for the damages it suffered due to the stories.
