A restaurant in George is hiring a chef to join its kitchen staff.Mondays - Fridays: 08h00 - 17h00
1. Job overviewThe Chef will be stationed at the head office test kitchen and will oversee providing guidance to franchise shops.
The role involves developing menu items, implementing effective systems for stock management and waste control, and training shop staff across various locations to apply and maintain these systems.
While food preparation is a core aspect of the position, equal importance is placed on the administrative tasks involved in managing food operations at franchise locations.
2. Key responsibilities- Develop and plan new menu items and specials, ensuring alignment with brand and standards.
- Provide guidance for franchisees on daily kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations specific to the ZA region.
- Create and implement systems for shops to effectively manage stock and control wastage.
- Work with nationwide suppliers to supply franchisees with the best products at the best prices.
- Evaluate food products and maintain consistency in taste and presentation.
- Visit stores to ensure compliance.
- Implement and monitor food safety protocols to align with local regulations.
- Oversee the entire menu and all associated ingredients.
- Implement systems for our kitchens to ensure they run efficiently.
- Upkeep of online recipes and teaching platform. Constantly updating recipes and preparation methods as we grow and change.
3. Qualifications- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Culinary diploma or relevant certification in culinary arts.
- Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in a test kitchen or franchise environment.
- Strong knowledge of menu planning, recipe development, and food presentation.
- Proficiency in inventory control, stock management, and waste reduction techniques.
