Kaya FM remains committed to staging the corporate race in support of Nelson Mandela Day where South Africans and citizens around the world do good in honour of Tata. It is also an opportunity for Afropolitan families to spend time together and reflect on the life and times of Nelson Mandela.
“We will continue to work towards staging an incredible sporting event as we believe it is a unifying agent and we hope Kaya FM listeners will continue to support the relay as a social cause which creates camaraderie and social cohesion within South Africa,” says Greg Maloka, Managing Director of Kaya FM.
Kaya FM’s continues to support the Foundation’s efforts to contribute to social justice. The relay is an opportunity for Corporate Social Investment in partnership with the Foundation and focuses on supporting education, which was close to Madiba’s heart. The funds raised in previous years have been used for libraries in well-deserving schools with little resources.
In keeping with the promise of supporting the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Kaya FM has donated over R3m to the Foundation in the last three years. Previous races have attracted an average of 15,000 participants and it has been a successful event for both the station and the Foundation. The next Kaya FM 67KM Relay for Mandela Day will be announced in due course.
