Enterprises UP continues support to UP Campus Tours

The University of Pretoria Campus Tours (UP Campus Tours) team is officially sporting newly branded gear, courtesy of Enterprises University of Pretoria (Enterprises UP). UP Campus Tours has become a cherished project for Enterprises UP which the company supports each year. The student-run business venture is based on the Hatfield Campus of the University and their main function is to provide professional tours on campus to prospective students, new university staff, international visitors and the public at large.

“We thank Prof Karen Harris and team for visiting our offices,” explains Mr Deon Herbst, CEO of Enterprises UP, “This is a very important occasion on our calendar and we are happy to have the opportunity to continue to support such a wonderful initiative.”

UP Campus Tours is run by the Heritage and Cultural Tourism students as part of their honours programme and is guided by Prof Karen Harris and Ms Charlene Herselman. It is UP Campus Tours’ mission to share their passion and enthusiasm for the University of Pretoria with their visitors, while informing them, in an entertaining manner, of the University’s rich heritage and promising future.

“Students gain invaluable experience and acquire a range of skills including primary research in the UP Archives, people skills, marketing, finances, management and actual tourist guiding while operating UP Campus Tours,” explains Prof Harris. “They provide an invaluable marketing service to the University and are seen as the young ambassadors of UP, impressing academics and dignitaries from across the continent and abroad as well as encouraging new enrolments to UP,” she adds.

“All of this would, however, not have been possible without Enterprises UP whose timeous intervention and insight into the potential of this entrepreneurial project has been on-going for over a decade,” Prof Harris concludes.
