Show exhibitors, African Stone Design, Revelstone Cape Pty Ltd and Cemstone generously donated all their stand material from the show to the Foundation for Alcohol Related Research (FARR). This organisation, which was established in 1997 in order to address issues related to alcohol substance abuse, specifically Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), aims to raise awareness of these conditions and to decrease the prevalence thereof.
Paving, bricks and cladding were donated to the organisation's community facility. The centre's Information Technology (IT) service partner, ProsperIS also donated a generator and uninterrupted power supply to FARR. The equipment will be used at the centre's head office to ensure that valuable frozen blood samples used in research would be preserved during a power outage.
CEO, Rashid Toefy says one of the centre's goals is to make a tangible impact, through mobilising its staff, service partners, visitors and delegates to help make a difference. "On behalf of the CTICC I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude and appreciation to both the organisers and exhibitors of the Cape Homemakers Expo and ProsperIS, who have played a pivotal role in helping the centre achieve its goal of uplifting and empowering communities, within Cape Town and the Western Cape" adds Toefy.
